Friends and Family Community Day

On September 25, 2010, NPCDC hosted its first annual Friends and Family Community Day. As the pictures show, the event was a fun filled and action packed afternoon with food, prizes, face painting, and a moon bounce for children. For a grand finale, a magician provided a captivating magic show for everyone in attendance.

This exciting event also served as the kick-off for the NPCDC Community Survey which is a community outreach effort that will enable NPCDC to learn more about the most pressing needs of the Gateway community. A huge thanks you to the KABC Youth Ministers whose efforts yielded a total of 56 surveys during our Community Day!

After School Educational Enrichment Program

Through fundraising and the generous support of Susquehanna Bank, on December 4, 2010 the first session of NPCDC’s After School Tutoring program was held. This program which assists fourteen (14) local children in its first cohort on a weekly basis over a twelve week period is the result of a collaborative effort between NPCDC and Rutgers-Camden’s YES Initiative.

The tutoring sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 9am until 12pm on Rutgers-Camden’s campus. In addition to the valuable educational enrichment the fourteen children in this program receive, they are also exposed to a university environment which provides a powerful link between the children’s present and their future potential. At the halfway point in the program attendance rate is over 94% and the children are making great progress!

Due to the need for these services within the NPCDC community we are now actively seeking assistance from private and public organizations to ensure that this valuable program can grow to serve more children in the community for months and years to come!

Anniversary Pre-Concert

Below are pictures as well as video from NPCDC’s Anniversary pre-concert that was held on November 14, 2010. This event which featured solos from Pastor Starghill and Rev. Heard as well as a memorable dual recital was held as a precursor to the full Anniversary Concert on April 2, 2011.

More details on this event will be posted as we move closer to the event but the pre-concert event was just a warm up so mark your calendars for what is sure to be an incredible performance!
